Amit Malviya, the In-charge of Bharatiya Janata Party’s National Information & Technology Dept, launched a scathing attack on the Congress party and its leader Rahul Gandhi following income tax raids at the premises of Congress MP Dhiraj Sahu in Jharkhand, Bengal, and Odisha. In a tweet, Malviya asserted, “Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra was actually a journey to connect the thieves of India. Congress is #CorruptionKiDukan (the hub of corruption). Nearly ₹300 crore recovered from the premises of Congress Rajya Sabha MP Dheeraj Sahu in Jharkhand is a living proof of this.”

The statement by Malviya coincided with the Income Tax Department’s recovery of ₹300 crore from the premises of an Odisha-based liquor distillery group associated with Congress MP Dhiraj Sahu. The company, Boudh Distillery Private Limited, is linked to Sahu’s family, with his son Ritesh Sahu serving as the managing director and his elder brother Uday Shanker Prasad as the chairman. The company is involved in the production of extra-neutral alcohol.

Notably, other BJP leaders and Union ministers joined Malviya in criticizing Sahu and the Congress party over the raids. Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan emphasized the need for the Congress to provide answers regarding the origin of the recovered black money, labeling the situation as worrisome. Echoing these sentiments, Union minister Anurag Thakur raised questions about the continuous opposition to demonetization by Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, alleging a connection between Congress and corruption.

The income tax raids, initiated in Odisha, Jharkhand, and West Bengal, targeted not only the distillery group but also a partnership firm associated with Baldeo Sahu & Group of Companies accused of tax evasion. The BJP leaders underscored the correlation between Congress-ruled regions and instances of corruption, reinforcing their stance on the need for accountability and transparency within the political landscape.
