The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has suspended Member of Parliament Danish Ali for purportedly engaging in anti-party activities, leading to a public dispute. BSP’s National General Secretary Satish Chandra Misra, in a suspension letter to Ali, accused him of repeatedly acting against the party’s policies and discipline. In response, Danish Ali expressed disappointment with BSP Chief Mayawati’s decision, denying any involvement in anti-party activities. Ali asserted his opposition to the BJP government’s policies, emphasizing that if challenging these policies is considered a crime, he is prepared to face the consequences. The suspension letter reminded Ali of his assurance to adhere to BSP’s policies when he joined the party after the 2018 Karnataka Assembly elections. The BSP had given him a ticket for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls based on this commitment. Misra highlighted that Ali had forgotten these assurances, engaging in activities contrary to the party’s interests. The suspension follows Ali’s participation in a walkout from Lok Sabha proceedings, protesting against the government’s motion to expel TMC member Mahua Moitra for “unethical conduct.” While Ali maintained his stance, other BSP members remained seated. Danish Ali, known for his active role in politics and vocal advocacy, rose to prominence during the 2017 Karnataka Assembly elections. His suspension adds a new layer to the political landscape, revealing tensions within the BSP. The move raises questions about party unity and the dynamics between its leaders, especially as the country prepares for upcoming elections.
