Rahul Gandhi Taunts BJP's Promise of Backward Caste CM in Telangana: 'You Will Get 2% Votes'

In a recent rally in Kalwakurthy, Telangana, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took a dig at the BJP’s promise of appointing a backward caste leader as the Chief Minister of the state. He questioned how the saffron party could fulfill this promise when they are projected to secure only a minuscule percentage of the votes in the upcoming assembly polls.

Rahul Gandhi highlighted that BJP leaders had previously expressed confidence about their prospects in Telangana. However, he claimed that the Congress had effectively deflated their hopes, comparing it to puncturing all four tires of the BJP’s political vehicle in the state. He stated, “You will get two percent of the votes here, so how can you make a chief minister?”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah had recently announced the BJP’s commitment to appoint a leader from a backward class as the Chief Minister if the party achieved victory in Telangana after the November 30 assembly polls.

Gandhi continued his taunt by suggesting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would make ambitious promises, such as appointing an OBC (Other Backward Classes) President in America. However, he quipped, “You will neither be able to make a President in America nor a Chief Minister here in Telangana.”

Rahul Gandhi also addressed the legal issues faced by opposition leaders, including cases from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He noted that there were 24 cases against him.

Moreover, he shared that his Lok Sabha membership had been canceled, and the government house allocated to him had been taken back. He expressed his willingness to return the house, emphasizing that the entire nation and Telangana were his home.

In this spirited rally, Rahul Gandhi made it clear that he was confident in the Congress party’s prospects in Telangana and didn’t miss the opportunity to criticize the BJP’s promises, all while reaffirming his commitment to the people of India and Telangana.
