In a recent address at the annual general meeting of FICCI, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh emphasized India’s remarkable economic achievements, asserting that the country has become the fastest-growing major economy globally. Singh commended India for demonstrating that there is no irreconcilable trade-off between growth and distributive justice.

Singh stated, “India showed that there is no irreconcilable trade-off between growth and distributive justice. That means providing fair opportunities to all citizens and accelerating the growth rate can be achieved simultaneously.” He highlighted the positive impact India can now exert on the growth of other countries.

While recognizing the government’s efforts to strengthen India’s position as a growth engine, Singh emphasized the crucial role of wealth creators and thought leaders in supporting this endeavor. He underscored the industry leaders’ special responsibility to contribute to the next chapter of India’s growth story. Referring to the government’s focus on infrastructure development, Singh praised initiatives like the PM Gati Shakti Yojana, emphasizing the growth web created by connecting remote areas and small cities. He called for industry leaders to actively participate in shaping India’s growth story by addressing the needs of every segment of society.

Singh also highlighted the government’s commitment to human resource development, citing improvements in education and health. He mentioned advancements in defense, including the induction of women in various positions across the three services.

As India aims to reach a USD 5 trillion economy by the end of 2025, Singh’s address at FICCI reflects the nation’s confidence in its economic trajectory and the collaborative efforts required for sustained growth.
